Anita Mitchell

Chief Executive – Placemaking NSW

Session title

A new take: Re-inventing infrastructure of a bygone era in a way that is true to place

Abstract

Encompassing Rozelle Bay, White Bay and Glebe Island, the Bays West precinct is a 77-hectare urban renewal project of a scale rarely seen.

From the finalisation of the Place Strategy in late 2021, through to the remediation work on White Bay Power Station and it’s recent opening with the Biennale of Sydney, Placemaking NSW’s Chief Executive, Anita Mitchell will take us through the short- and long-term strategies for this landmark building and the broader precinct. This session will highlight how Placemaking NSW has identified opportunities to value and respect the heritage and history of the area while planning for its future.
